Storm

11 inches is the final tally of snow that we received last night, I am not sure how that makes me feel. I do know that I wish it was a little warmer than 8 degrees to take the kids out to play today.

It’s funny when you think about the weather all that goes into prepping you for the big “storm”, it’s a never ending line of news cast after news cast of what to expect for the afternoon commute. I can't help but think of how this compares in our every day life with  the storms that we encounter.  Even when we feel that we have taken all the right steps to prepare, at times we are still blindsided by life .

But now, this is what the LORD says-- he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.  For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life.  Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.

Isaiah 43 1-5

I love that even when we feel we are lost in the storm of this life, God reminds us that He has all the tools we need. We just need to remember how to access them. He is steadfast and faithful to His word. In this life where nothing is for certain I hold fast to His word and know that I can face the storm of tomorrow.

On to my little people!
When we get big storms, I think back to when I was a kid and how much fun it was to jump and play in fresh fallen snow. This has proven to be no different for my kids, we went out last evening after dinner while the snow was still falling. The kids just couldn’t get enough of those big fluffy snowflakes. The girls even proceeded to lay their heads down in the snow and say "ni night".
